Chandragiri

Situated on the bank of the river Swarnamukhi, this was the last capital of the Vijayanagar King. The ruins of their fort and places are to be seen on a huge granite hill, 183 metres high and set amidst lush, fertile and picturesque surroundings.

Horsley Hills

Named after a former collector of chittor, the Horsley hill is a charming little hill station, at an altitude of 1,265 metres above sea level. The Rishi Valley school, a well-known public school, is situated here amoung thickly wooded hills.

Kailasakona Waterfalls

This beautiful waterfall is situated in the Nagari Valley. The waterfall is considered sacred and its mineral-rich water is said to possess curative powers.

Kalyani Dam

Situated in the Rangampet forest on the Tirupati-Madanapalle Road, this reservoir is the main water source for Tirupati and Tirumala.

Madanapalle

This famous health resort, situated at an altitude of 710 metres above sea level,enjoys a salubrious climate throughout the year. There are many important medical and educational institutions here.

Nagari

The most prominent and highest cliff in the Nagari Hills, is called the Nagari Nose because, it resembles a human nose in shape. This 855 meter hi9gh cliff is said to have served as a light house in medieval times. There is a well-known picnic spot nere here, on the northern bank of the river Kusasthali.

Pisatur

The Araniyar project is located at this beautiful scenic spot. The site provides a panoramic view of the contryside.

Puttur

This village is famous for its bone setters, whose ability to set right any type of fracture with the help of herbs and indigenous plaster is renouned throughout the south.

Sri Kalahasti (104 km)

Standing between two steep hills on hthe banks of the Swarnamukhi, is the temple dedicated to Vayu, the God of winds. The river running morth touches the base of the temple.

Thalakona

Etymologically, this place is said to be the threshold to hthe seven hills of Tirumala. The 61-metre tall perennial waterfall and fertile valley filled with luxuriant evergreen forests present a grand view of nature at its best.

Tirupati (67 km)

Enveloped in the history and legend, Tirupati is one of the most ancient and richest pilgrim centres in the country. The shrine on the seven hills, dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, is a masterpiece of the Dravidian school of architecture. The temple has an exquisitely carved gopuram facing the east. The vimana is completely covered with gold plate and is known as Ananda Nilayam. The annual festival in September attracts thousands of pilgrims from all over the country.
