The hill on which the
fort is known asa Stambhadir. The tall, pillar - like stones found on this
hill were used as pillars to support the ceiling of the temples and mandapas
here.
The stone image of
sage Moudgalya is to be seen in this hill shrine. A tank on the hill-top
has a variety of aquatic life in it.
Bhadrachalam, set amidst
thick forest, is famous for the temple of Sri Rama. The town itself is built
on a bank of the river Godavari. The annual festival held here on Sri ram
Navami Day is attended thousands of pilgrims from all over the country.
This sanctuary ofmixed
forest surrounds the Kinnersani Reservoir. A wide variety of animals and
birds, including tiger, lepard, and sloth bear can be seen here.
The
Palair project reservoir, spread over 7,598 hectares, is a place of scenic beauty.
The Wyar dam, built
across the river Wyar, is located close to this village.
