The Fort

Located on a hil southwest of the town, the fort dates back to the 10th Century AD. Jain artefacts are to be found here.

Sarangapuram Temple (5 km)

This temple, founded by Samartha ramadas, the Guru of Chatrapati Sivaji, is dedicated to Hanuman.

Sri Neelakanteswara Shrine

This famous temple is built in the jani style of architecture. The annual festival during Rathasaptami (Jan-Feb) draws large crowds of devotees.

Ali Sagar

This huge reservoir was constructed in 1931 by the Nizam. Flanked by nature hillocks and lovely flower gardens, the lake and its surroundings are rich in scenic beauty.

Bodhan (32 km)

The ruins of building built by the various dynasties that ruled this area attest to its historic importance. Bodhan is also an important industrial and business centre. The Nizam sugar factory here is one of the biggest in the country.

Nizamsagar Dam

Built across the Manjira River, the Nizamsagar dam near Achampet village is in an area that abounds in scenic beauty.
