This Dravidan structure,
constructed during the early Vijayanagar period, is the largest and
most ancient temple in the town.

A temple of Siddalingeshvara
and a Gurukula - type higher education centre for the veerashavis is
located here. The natural spring found here is considered sacred by
the devout.
The town contains
three temples and a few inscriptions belonging to the Hoysala period.
Among the beautiful sculptures found here, the large recumbent bull,
carved in black stone, found in front of the Gangadhareshvara temple
is a fine piece of sclpture.
A fortified hill
set amidst picturesque scenery. Near a spring, known as Anedone, are
the remains of the tomb of an elephant. Nearby are, the Narasimha temple,
the Bukasamudra tank, and the Hanuman temple. Near this hill, is a
small natural spring called Namada chilume, which fills and overflows
the mortar cut in the rock.

This
unique ancient ancient temple attracts many pilgrims.
A
treasure trove of natural wonders, with many caves and medicinal herbs,
the nature spring on the hillock is known for its medicinal value.
Sira
once served as the headquarters of a province under the Mughals, bijapur
Sultans, Haider Ali and tipu Sultan. Hence, all the major Muslim monuments
in the district are found here. Remarkable amoung these, are the jumma
Masjid and the dargah of Malik Rihan, built in the Saracenic style.
Yadiyur
is an important place of pilgrimage. the Siddhalingeshvara temple found
here is a large Dravidian structure, which attracts devotees
all through the year. The annual car festival is held during the bright
half of chaitra (March to April).
